This fall, the Urban Activation Grant is hitting the streets — and it’s all about turning creative ideas into reality. Whether it’s 🎶 live music, 🎨 bold window art, 🛍️ quirky pop-up workshops, or 🤝 community clubs, the grant is here to support projects that bring joy, connection, and fresh energy to the heart of the city.

Backed by the Downtown New West association and the City of New Westminster, this program is designed to spark imagination and make our downtown more welcoming, inclusive, and fun. Rain or shine, there are endless ways to brighten up our streets and gather the community.

Think of it as your chance to transform an idea into an experience — one that will make neighbors smile, bring people together, and show off just how creative New West can be. 🌟

👉 Got an idea that could light up downtown? Now’s the time to make it happen.

🥌 Try Curling at the Royal City Curling Club!

Mark your calendars — the Junior Open House is happening on Saturday, September 27th, from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. 🎉 Kids and teens ages 5–20 are invited to step onto the ice and discover the thrill of curling — no registration needed!

👟 What to bring:

  • Clean running shoes (not worn outside)

  • 🪖 Helmet (required for ages 12 and under)

  • ❄️ A little bit of curiosity and excitement!

The club offers two fun programs for young curlers:

  • Little Rocks 🧸 → starting as early as kindergarten

  • Junior Program 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 → for ages 8–20

Both programs are led by qualified coaches who guide kids through the game every week, helping them learn skills, teamwork, and the joy of sliding stones down the ice.

This open house is the perfect chance to make friends, try something new, and join a welcoming community right here in New Westminster. 🌟
