New Westminster is beaming with renewable energy success as the Urban Solar Garden continues to power local homes and businesses—literally and figuratively. This innovative, City-led project invites residents, businesses, and non-profits to take part in a sustainable future by subscribing to a slice of solar power generated right here in the community.
📍Located atop the Queensborough Community Centre and the City Public Works Yard, the two rooftop solar arrays generate clean electricity year-round. Participants don’t need to install any equipment themselves—just reserve solar panels in the shared garden, and receive energy credits on their utility bills twice a year, based on their share.
🌞 Good news for current subscribers: Energy credits from January to June 2025 have just been posted to utility accounts!
The Urban Solar Garden not only saves money over time—especially as grid prices rise—but also comes with zero maintenance worries. Plus, subscriptions are fully transferable, so you can take your solar savings with you if you move within the service area.
Whether you're passionate about climate action or just love a good local win, the Urban Solar Garden proves that small steps lead to big, sustainable impacts. 🌿
