Queensborough is looking for community-minded volunteers to help support and plan upcoming special events, including the popular Queensborough Childrenโ€™s Festival.

Organizers are currently seeking:

  • Event planning volunteers to help with ideas, coordination, and behind-the-scenes support

  • Festival-day volunteers to join the roster for the Queensborough Childrenโ€™s Festival on June 13, 2026

No heavy time commitment is required. Event planning volunteers attend one meeting per month, with the option to join online or in person, making it an easy and flexible way to get involved in the community.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet neighbours, gain event experience, and help create fun, family-friendly activities for Queensborough residents. Whether youโ€™re interested in planning, helping on the day of the festival, or both, all support is welcome.

Those interested are asked to register in advance by completing the volunteer registration form.

Drop In and Learn How the Library Can Support You

Douglas College students are invited to get familiar with one of their most valuable on-campus resources at an upcoming Library Orientation at the New Westminster campus.

Taking place on Thursday, January 15, from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m., this free, in-person session offers a practical introduction to everything the Douglas College Library has to offer. Students will meet at the entrance to the New Westminster campus Library (N2100) before heading inside for a guided overview.

During the session, participants will learn how to access library resources, find and use course reserves, and get support with research and citations, both online and on campus. The orientation will also cover how to book group study rooms, use printing and scanning services, and explore available equipment and materials designed to support academic success.

Whether youโ€™re new to Douglas College or simply havenโ€™t explored the library yet, this short orientation is a helpful way to save time, reduce stress, and feel more confident navigating your studies.

The session is open to all interested students, and no prior library experience is required.
