👍️ New West Spotlight Family Votes for Our Mascot — Tin Man or Dapper Crow? 🐥🤖

🎉 What a fantastic day at the Queensborough Children’s Festival! A huge thank you to Erica Wong, Chair of the QSPC, for organizing such a fun and vibrant community event.

✨ We were thrilled to host our first in-person vote for the official New West Spotlight mascot — and the competition is heating up! The contenders? The beloved Tin Man and the stylish Dapper Crow.

👦👧 The kids brought their creativity, casting their votes with doodles, squiggles, and all kinds of imaginative marks (just check out the photos above!). In return, they got a sweet treat — a lollipop for their effort.

🚀 The response was incredible — we collected 176 votes so far! Right now, the Tin Man is in the lead with 101 votes, but the Dapper Crow is not far behind with 76. Some kids chose in a flash, while others took their time to size up both mascots.

👉 Now it’s YOUR turn! Will the Tin Man hold onto the lead, or will the Dapper Crow swoop in for the win? Voting is open until June 30th — make your mark!

👮 New Westminster Incident Prompts Call for Witnesses and Victims to Come Forward

The New Westminster Police Department is actively seeking information from the public following a disturbing incident that unfolded in the Uptown neighbourhood on the evening of Saturday, June 7. At approximately 6:20 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of a man chasing pedestrians and hurling objects at them.

Witnesses described the suspect as visibly agitated, at one point tearing a branch from a tree and using it to strike several individuals. The unsettling scene unfolded near the New Westminster Public Library, where officers eventually located and arrested the man.

Authorities believe there may be additional victims or witnesses who left the area without speaking to police and are now urging them to come forward. The department is emphasizing the importance of connecting those affected with necessary support services and ensuring a complete investigation.
