🌱 Spring Yard Collection Continues Through May 29

Still tackling your spring yard work? The City of New Westminster’s Seasonal Yard Trimmings Collection continues until May 29, giving residents extra time to clear out leaves, branches, and garden waste.

Homeowners can place additional kraft bags of yard trimmings and bundled branches out on their regular collection day as part of the seasonal pickup program.

A few reminders before setting items out: keep bags and bundles under 50 pounds, cut branches to under 3 feet long and 3 inches thick, and place items at least 1 metre away from carts. If rain is in the forecast, be sure to cover paper bags to keep contents dry.

Residents should also note that extra yard waste may be collected separately from regular pickup, so the City recommends waiting until the end of the week before reporting missed collection.

It is one more sign that spring is in full swing across New West — and a great excuse to finally finish that yard clean-up.

⛴️ Q to Q Ferry Expands Service for Spring and Summer

The Q to Q Ferry is officially operating on its spring and summer schedule, bringing extended evening service and additional sailings just in time for the busy waterfront season.

With warmer weather arriving and more people heading outdoors, the ferry continues to be one of the easiest and most scenic ways to travel between Quayside and Queensborough.

Whether you are commuting, visiting the River Market, biking along the boardwalk, or heading out for dinner by the river, the expanded schedule makes it even easier to enjoy everything along the Fraser waterfront this season.

The ferry runs every 30 minutes and is wheelchair and stroller accessible, with bikes welcome onboard. Children 12 and under ride free, and leashed dogs are allowed on the outdoor deck.

Extended Friday and weekend evening sailings are also back for the summer months, giving residents and visitors more flexibility to explore New Westminster by the river.
